

Peter (Pedro) Quezada II, 68, died of a heart attack Wednesday, February 15, 2012. Funeral services will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Mr. Quezada was born in Neuvo Laredo, Mexico. He became a Naturalized citizen in 1964. Mr. Quezada served as a Military Policeman in the United States Army from 1964 to 1976. While stationed in Germany he met and married the former Heide Pietsch in 1967. Together they raised four children. During his career in the Military, he became a criminal investigator eventually attaining the position of Deputy Chief Investigator for the Office of the Provost Marshall. In 1976 he left the US Army and became a Columbus Police Officer and later a detective. He attained a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Science from Troy University in 1977 and would go on to achieve a Juris Doctor from Woodrow Wilson Law School in 1982. He opened a private law practice in Columbus in 1984. He was well known for his work as a public defender and known for helping those most in need, especially those of little means. Survivors include his wife, Heide Quezada of Columbus; five children, Patrick Quezada of Panama City, FL, Michael Quezada (Donna) of Tuscon, AZ, Kirk Pietsch of Essen, Germany, Jennifer Tomblin (Bobby) of Phenix City, AL and Enrico (Laura) Quezada of Ft. Stewart, GA; thirteen grandchildren, Mary Harper (David), Christopher Quezada (Laura), William Quezada (Alicia), Jonathan, Mariah, Kalani and Aiden Quezada, T.J., Tanner and Tucker Tomblin and Montana Rose, Tommy and Timmy Quezada; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Gilbert Quezada and a sister, Lupe Quezada.
