Ramon G. Perez, “Papa”, 83, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. He was born on July 8, 1941 in Hormigueros, Puerto Rico to the late Maria P. Gonzalez Vega Perez and Jose Antonio Perez. He served in the United States Army for 8 years. He served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart for his faithful service along with other medals, decorations and badges. After leaving the Army, Ramon settled in the Columbus area. He was a driver for Flavo-Rich and Barber Dairy for over 40 years, delivering milk to the area schools and stores.
He enjoyed being outside and maintaining his beautiful yard that was admired by all. Christmas time was special to him, Ramon enjoyed sharing his love of Christmas with an abundance of yard decorations and lights that were admired and featured in the local newspaper for many years. He was a huge Atlanta Braves baseball fan who never missed watching or attending games.
Ramon was Christian by faith, he previously attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Union Grove UMC.
Ramon leaves his loving memory to be cherished by two step-daughters: Sandra Hensley, Carolyn Hensley Hargraves, her husband Rod Hargraves; five grandchildren: Kyle Hargraves, Lauren Hargraves, Toni Dixon, Michaela Cooperider, Summer Hargraves; 4 great grandchildren; three sisters: Blanca Magdalena, Maria del Carmen, Aura Elba, and one brother, Guillermo Jose and other family members residing in Puerto Rico. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by: his first wife Nina Perez (1993) and longtime partner Louise Hall Hensley (2016), siblings: Carmen Ana, Maria A. Perez, and Jose Antonio.
Family will greet friends on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. Family and friends will go in procession into Parkhill Cemetery for a graveside service with military honors at 11:00 AM.
