Rebecca "Becki" Vinson Matthews

Rebecca Ann Matthews, 62, of Salem, AL, passed away on June 16, 2013. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, 11 a.m. with Reverend Howard White officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum, Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. Mrs. Matthews, daughter of the late William Earl Vinson and Betty Ann Hinson Vinson, was born November 22, 1950 in Columbus. She was a member of Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church, Midland, Georgia. Mrs. Matthews loved her family, especially her grandchildren where she was known as “BeBe” to them. She loved to travel, shop, and living at the lake. Mrs. Matthews always had a smile on her face. She is survived by her husband, Tom Matthews of Salem, Alabama; one daughter, Alice Ragland Fry and her husband Ron Fry; one son, Jason Ragland; step-sons, Scott Matthews and Chad Matthews and his wife Heather; brother, Larry Vinson and his wife Gwen; sisters, Gail McCarty and her husband Don McCarty and Patti Cole Gladwell and her husband Jack; grandchildren, Jack Fry, Olivia Fry, Elizabeth Matthews, and Drake Matthews; aunts that were like second moms, Patricia Goodman and Sara Smith; uncle, Jack Hinson; other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church, 5122 Pierce Chapel Rd, Midland, Georgia 331820.
