Richard F. Andrews left us on March 20, 2025, in Cataula, Georgia. Born on September 8, 1937, in Palatka, Florida, Richard lived a life marked by curiosity, adventure, and deep connections with those around him.
A graduate of Beaufort High School's Class of 1955 in Beaufort, South Carolina, Richard carried a lifelong love of learning and exploration.
Preceded in death by his wife of nearly 47 years, Margaret “Peggy” Fuller Andrews, the lovebirds lived in many areas of the United States before settling in Cataula, Georgia. After Richard’s retirement from TSYS as Senior Vice President, Richard and Peggy took to traveling (mostly via cruise ship). Their passion for travel took them to the farthest reaches of the world, including both the Arctic Circle and Antarctica—and much of the planet in between. When not on an adventure, the two loved the quiet life of living in their woods, gardening, and caring for many animals. The cats were always his favorite—a love that started at a very early age with a tabby as big as him.
Richard found joy in simple yet profound pleasures: reading, walking in the woods, and engaging in meaningful conversations with friends. He was known for his kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness, courage, and boldness—that left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Whether sharing stories over a well-made martini or exchanging ideas with friends, Richard valued connection and thoughtful discourse.
In addition to Peggy, Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. Andrews and Beatrice E. Andrews; brothers Charles O. Andrews and Robert "Robin" E. Andrews; as well as sisters-in-law Marie L. Andrews and Louise Pinter.
He is survived by his brother-in-law Jim Fuller; sisters-in-law Helen Fuller and Kathleen "Catherine" Andrews Modica; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; as well as his beloved cat, Sunshine.
Richard's memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his legacy of warmth and adventure continue to inspire others.
