Rita Cartledge Johnson

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 3:00 PM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, Georgia. A visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 PM until time of the service. To ensure the safety of all attending please practice social distancing and wear face covering.

She was born on December 7, 1930 in Muscogee County, Georgia, daughter of the late Albert Joseph Cartledge, Sr. and Voncile Kelly Cartledge. Rita was a true southern lady who loved her family. She was Baptist by faith and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Joel M. Johnson; grandson, Adam D. White; sister, Mary Alice Cartledge Tedders; brothers, Albert Joseph Cartledge, Jr., James Edwin Cartledge, Raymond Leon Cartledge, Odus Hooper Cartledge, and Milton Kelly Cartledge; and her best friend, Nell Lumpkin Kinsey.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Sue Johnson Holmes and her husband, Rick; her granddaughter, Mandy Sue Arnold and her husband, Michael; and one great granddaughter, Blakely Ann Arnold.
