Robert Charles Gardner, 78, of Waverly Hall, Georgia passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at his residence. He will be remembered as a simple man with a Big heart. He loved God first and foremost and his family was his world. Never will you meet a man who more faithfully lived his loyal values
Visitation will be from 6-8pm, on Monday, June 18, 2018 in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA.
Graveside services will be held at 10am, Tuesday, June 19, 2018 in Parkhill Cemetery, with full Military Honors rendered.
Mr. Gardner was born May 6, 1940 in Ropesville, Texas to the late Clyde H. Gardner and Katherine Brunson Gardner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death wife Janice Hicks Gardner and Gloria Gardner as well as two sons, Max and Walter Riddle, and a brother, Clyde Gardner. Mr. Gardner proudly served his country in the United States Army; he was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he received three Bronze Stars. He retired from the Army after 20 years with the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Mr. Gardner is survived by ten children, Joseph Gardner, Sharon Stokes, Pearl McCoy, Ricky Riddle, Brenda Ogburn, Veronica Cox, Victor Riddle, Michael Weems and Kimberly and Steven Brison and one brother Osie Pate and 24 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.
