Robert "Bob" Reese

Robert “Bob” Reese, age 72, resident of Columbus, died on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services are scheduled at Northside Chapel, 1901 Whittlesey Road, Columbus on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 11 a.m. with Rev. Larry Biggers officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. Private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 24, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. Mr. Reese, son of the late Larkum Tulian Reese and Althea Perkins Gore, was born May 3, 1940 in Conehatta, MS. After graduating from Jordan High School and attending college, he began working at Columbus Foundry and then began a career at Fort Benning in Civil Service where he worked faithfully for over 26 years. After retirement from civil service, he worked at AFLAC until his 2nd retirement. Mr. Reese was actively involved in the community within the Columbus area, coaching Little League; coaching and playing softball; and he also was a referee at high school sporting events. He was an avid Alabama football and Atlanta Braves fan. Mr. Reese was a member of Northside Chapel, had taught Sunday School for many years, and formerly involved in Singles Ministries. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Susan Reese of Columbus; four daughters, Cynthia Macaluso and her husband Dominic of Greer, SC, Terri Stouffer and her husband Dean of Chattanooga, TN, Christina Rosaschi and her husband Dan of Laguna Niguel, CA, and Thea Grice and her husband Andrew of Virginia Beach, VA; one sister, Nancy Thompson of Columbus; three brothers, Teddy Ray Phillips and his wife Mary of Columbus, Dennis Reese and his wife Jennifer of Columbus, and Tulian Reese and his wife Kim of North Carolina; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; other relatives and friends.
