Mr. Robert M. Williams, Jr., age 78, passed away on the evening of Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2025. He was born January 19, 1947 in Columbus, Georgia where he resided for the entirety of his earthly life. Bobby, as he was most known, is the son of the late Mr. Robert, Sr. and Mrs. Ruth Williams.
A veteran himself, he followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the Navy, serving his country in many spots in the Mediterranean and elsewhere as a signalman on the USS Little Rock. After challenging health reasons led him to leave the service, Bobby worked hard many years for Gentry Machine Works. A true tinkerer, Bobby had a love for mechanics and a general enjoyment of working on things with lots of parts – be it cars, solar panels, or other items around the home and garden. Lastly, Bobby was a loving husband and father, who was intentional with his family time, serving with his son’s Scout Troup, PTA, and always making time for his family. His family will hold on to those precious memories always.
Bobby is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Judith Johnson Williams, son Daniel (Laura) Williams, and grandchildren Reed and Livia Williams.
He will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery at Fort Mitchell, Alabama. A memorial service will be held at Northside Christian Church on Monday, November 24th, at 6 pm.
