

A Graveside funeral service will be held at Riverdale Cemetery, 1000 Victory Dr. Columbus, GA 31902 June 4, 2018 at 11:00AM with Rabbi Beth Schwartz officiating. Her family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
Roberta was born in New Orleans, LA to the late Dwight Raymond Rowland and Gloria Frances Rowland on May 13, 1944. Her father was in the U.S. Army which brought her family to the Columbus area where Roberta graduated from Jordan Vocation High School. She later received a diploma from Columbus School of Beauty. Roberta was Methodist by faith and converted to Judaism in 1963. After making a home with her children she also worked at St. Francis Hospital until 1985, moving to Scottsdale, AZ, Tallahassee, FL and back to Columbus, GA in 1993. She was a caregiver for her mother from 1998 to 2000 while also volunteering at the Edgewood Senior Center in Columbus, GA. Roberta was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 665 in Columbus, GA. Also a life member of Hadassah (The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, Inc.). After being her mother’s caregiver she then became a nanny in 2000 to Claudia Mills and Delaney Mills until she became roommates with her daughter in 2009. Her daughter then became her primary caregiver in 2016.
Roberta loved roller-skating with her children throughout most of their childhood. She was also an avid bowler who received many trophies and pins. She was a tremendous NASCAR fan and rarely missed a televised race. She loved being on her iPad, most especially Facebook, that she claimed was her mental therapy. She also loved her four indoor cats and had a soft spot for stray animals. Roberta was a proud mother of her children Lisa and David Love. Her children were the center of her world and she loved them unconditionally. She was her daughter’s best friend, confidante and the rock of her world who will miss her until eternity. Roberta enjoyed taking care of those in need in whatever way she could with her kind and compassionate heart. She entered peacefully into eternal rest where she will now be with her beloved son, David Lee Love and will be laid to rest right beside him. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her brother, Ronald Raymond Rowland and her son, David Lee Love.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Ann Love of Columbus, GA; sister, Linda Kay Killen (Bob) of Conyers, GA; niece, Melinda Ann Gleason (John) of Conyers, GA; nephews, Brad Killen of Conyers, GA and Daniel Lee Rowland (Taryn) of North Carolina. She also leaving behind two very special friends, Barbara Milam and Renate Cole. Roberta will be greatly missed by all who knew and especially loved her.
