Rose Bonk, 77, passed away on May 15, 2026 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA surrounded by her family. Born June 16, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois, Rose will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who knew and loved her. She was a long time resident of Columbus, GA and shared a beautiful home with her husband there for 38 years.
Rose is survived by the love of her life of 54 years, James J. Bonk; her children, Jimmy Bonk (Kelly), Melissa Kirkland (Tony), and Albert Bonk (Rebecca); and her eight grandchildren, Dustin Bonk, Whitney Bonk, Ethan Bonk, Trey Kirkland III, Izzy Kirkland, Mollie Bonk, Harry Bonk, and Lily Kirkland. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Harry Wolff, her sisters, Mary Jane Wolff and Bobbette Wolff and her grand daughter, Hanna Kirkland.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Rose’s love for her family was steady and unmistakable, especially in the joy she took in her grandchildren and watching them play sports and excel in their academic achievements.
Rose also gave her time and leadership beyond her home, serving as a prior president of the Columbus Newcomers Club. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church.
She found happiness in simple, meaningful pleasures: days at the beach with her husband and family, cross-stitching, crocheting, and watching Atlanta Braves baseball.
She left us too soon. Her memory will remain a blessing, carried forward by the family she cherished and the many lives touched by her beloved presence.
