Rosel Gerda Luise Koenig April 20, 1931- June 20, 2015 Columbus, GA- Rosel Gerda Luise Koenig, 84, of Fortson, Georgia passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Columbus Hospice House. A Graveside Service is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, 2015, 12:00 pm., at Parkhill Cemetery with Clay Hood officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 am-11:00 am in the Edgewood Hall at Striffer-Hamby. Mrs. Koenig, daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. Pelzig, was born April 20, 1931 in Hohenlimburg, Germany. In her earlier years, she was a Secretary for the German American National Congress in Chicago. She was also an accomplished seamstress and an artisan of needle point, along with being an exceptional culinarian. Mrs. Koenig enjoyed spending time with her family and was a devoted friend to many. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Georg Koenig. Survivors include her son Jens Koenig (Madalynn) of Fortson, GA; grandchildren Francine Koenig of Fortson, GA and Georg Koenig of Fortson, GA; and her sister Krista Hashagen of Germany.
