Roy Daniel Byrd

Funeral services will be held August 16, 2017, at 3:00 pm EDT Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA. The officiating Pastors include Reverend Bud Rupel and Reverend Charles Hays. Graveside services will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. Visitation will precede the services at 2:00 EDT in Edgewood Hall.

Mr. Byrd was born on March 29, 1923 in Ariton, Alabama, son of the late Joseph B. Byrd and Mattie O. McKinney Byrd. He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mildred E. Byrd, his son Roy D. Byrd, Jr., (Danny) and wife Peggy, son Christopher M. Byrd (Chris), two grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and his brother, Joseph K. Byrd (Kent) and wife Katie Judah Byrd of Stonewall, Mississippi.

Mr. Byrd was a Veteran of World War II and retired after thirty years of employment in Civil Service Finance and Accounting, at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God for twenty- eight years, and attended Edgewood Assembly of God. He was an accomplished musician and artist.
