

Arrangements under the direction of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA.Roy F. “Paw Paw” Hardy, 89, of Columbus, GA, surrounded by his loving family, entered into the presence of The Lord on July 10, 2016. He was born December 31, 1926 in Graceville, FL to his late parents Clara and Auvest Hardy. Roy was a faithful member and Deacon of Faith Temple A/G in Phenix City, AL and loved to sing with his church family. Roy proudly served his country in the Army during WWII. He was a Carpenter by trade and one of his greatest pleasures was to buy, sell and trade tools at local flea markets. His passion was his family. Paw Paw loved family gatherings and being with each and every one of them.
The family will welcome guests for visitation Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 10:00 am in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA, followed by an 11:00 am Celebration of Roy’s Life with Reverend Emory Evans officiating. The family will have a private Committal service.
Along with his parents, Roy is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mildred Hardy; his infant daughter, Elaine Hardy; grandchild, Kyle Fletcher Hardy; brother, Ralph Hardy; and step-son, Joe Bass. He is survived by his wife Janie Hardy; two sisters, Ruth Williams of Lakeland, FL, and Hazel Morton of Panama City, FL; two daughters, Ginger (Michael) Fox of Columbus and Imogene (Robert) Byrnes of Marietta, GA; three sons, Earl (Julie) Hardy of Atmore, AL, Keith (Lana) Hardy of Columbus, Dennis Hardy of Phenix City and one step-son Bobby Bass of Phenix City; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other family members and many, many friends.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations are given in memory of Roy Hardy to Gentiva Hospice at 100 Brookstone Centre Pkwy, Columbus, GA, 31904, or The American Heart Association at 1639 Bradley Park Dr. Suite 500, #379, Columbus, GA, 31904.
