Samie K. Lott

Samie was born in Williamsport, PA on February 4, 1949 and was the daughter of Sargent Major Samuel Blair Klose (deceased) of Altona PA and Louise Allen Stovall Klose (deceased) of Fredericksburg, VA.

Samie married Kenneth Orville Lott on August 19,1972 at the MCSC Chapel, Albany, GA. Cousins include Kay Klose Quitko, Jay Henry Klose (Patricia), and Charlotte Stovall Negron (Jamie).

Samie retired from education in 2004 after 31 years and was Teacher of the Year, Forrest Road Elementary, in the year 2000.Worked in Muscogee County School District from 1990 to 2004 where she taught Special Education and was working as an instructional Technology Specialist when she retired. Prior to coming to Muscogee County previous work experience included: teaching middle school and high school classes, working as an Educational Consultant for 3 Regional Educational Service Agencies (RESAs) and serving as the Director of the Chattahoochee-Flint Regional Assessment Center for Performance Based Certification (RAC). After retiring, supervised Special Education Student teachers for Columbus State University.

Samie attended St. Anne Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Council of Catholic Women and the Rosary Group. Samie was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa (Alpha Chi Chapter and Beta Theta Chapter), Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century, National Society Daughters of the American Colonists, and the Jamestowne Society.

Samie graduated from Dougherty High School, Albany GA in 1967. She earned her Bachelor of Arts (BA), Valdosta State University, Valdosta, GA in 1971 a Masters of Education (M.Ed.) Valdosta State University in 1972 and her Education Specialist (Ed.S.) Valdosta State University in 1976.

A Celebration of Life Mass Service will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2000 Kay Circle, Columbus, GA 31907 on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 2:00PM. Father Scott Winchell will be the officiant. Burial to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. Family will visit with friends at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM.
