
Graveside services for Ms. Angermuller were held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, August 24, 2013 in Parkhill Cemetery according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary 4071 Macon Road Columbus.
Ms. Angermuller was born in Columbus, GA, to the late Edward Vinson and Vassie Peacock Vinson; her husband Robert W. Burns also preceded her in death. She attended Jordan High School and graduated with an ADN from Miami-Dade Community College in 1965, and later graduated in 1974 with a BSN in Sociology from Barry University, Miami Shores, FL. Upon her return to Columbus in 1976 she received her Master’s Degree in Foundations of Education from Georgia State University. She began her career in Nursing in 1975 where she taught at Columbus State University and then went on to receive her MSN from The Medical College of Georgia in Augusta in 1979. Ms. Angermuller was certified in Neuroscience Nursing in 1978 by The American Association of Neuroscience Nursing; and in 1981 she was certified in Critical Care Nursing. She is a charter member of the Pi Beta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau at CSU and has served as a Nurse for the American Red Cross since 1979. She retired in 1999 from CSU where she taught nursing for 22 years, but continued working there on a part-time basis. She also worked at Columbus Regional Hospital, Emergency Department since 1983. She received the degree of Professor Emeritus in 2005. She loved the interaction and learning for the students who passed through the program. Sarah was a very active member in Sunday School and other church activities at Mountain Hill Baptist Church in Hamilton, GA.
Survivors include a son, Ronald E. Burns of Hamilton, GA, and grandchildren Melissa Burns, Brandi Hero (Michael), all of Hamilton and Thomas Saunders of Columbus; Daughter, Bobbie E. Zachary (beloved son-in-law, Larry) of Fortson, and grandchildren Kristin Hatcher (Andy) of Fortson; Lindsay Hood (Brandon) of Cataula, and Leslie Mullis (Michael) of Midland, GA, great-grandchildren include 4 boys and 4 girls.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Sarah Angermuller Nursing Scholarship Fund, CSU Foundation Columbus State University 4225 University Ave. Columbus, GA, 31907.
