A graveside service will be held on Wednesday February 9, 2022 at 1:00 PM in Parkhill Cemetery. Family will visit with friends from 12:00 noon until 12:45 PM with a procession into Parkhill for the service at 1:00 PM with Bishop Tracy Sanders officiating.
Shirley was born on May 11, 1943 in Alabama to the late Mary Andrews Harris and Jessie Turner Harris. She was retired from AFLAC and enjoyed spending time with her family. Shirley loved shopping, crocheting afghans, and spending time with family. She enjoyed going to Pigeon Forge in the Great Smokey Mountains and traveling to Kansas to spend time with her sister Hilda. Shirley was Christian by faith and a longtime member of Beallwood Church of God. She was a loving mother, sister, granny and great granny, she will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband Earl R. Dixon; her son Robert Smith; her sister Opal Thilbault; and her brother Jake Harris. Shirley is survived by her sister Hilda Cowen of Lawrence, Kansas; her grandson Joshua Smith and his wife Sarah; her granddaughters Lori Smith and Jessica Smith; her great grandchildren: Samuel Smith, Aaron Smith, Shiloh Smith, Abigail Smith, Jermahl Bennett, Jeremiah Bennett, Nehemiah Owens, Haleigh Howard, Andrew Howard, and Kyleigh Smith; numerous other family members and friends.
