
Shirley Summers, age 75, resident of Lynn Haven, FL and former resident of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at her residence. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus on Saturday, October 22, 2011, 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Roy White officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 21, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. Mrs. Summers, daughter of the late Margaret Mildred Watts Jackson, was born February 1, 1936 at Fort Benning, GA. She retired from AFLAC and also had worked several years at St. Francis Hospital. She was a member of Lynn Haven United Methodist Church and former member of Sherwood United Methodist Church. Mrs. Summers was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Summers, a brother, Sonny Watson, and also two grandsons. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Terry and her husband Phillip Terry of Columbus, Catherine Willoughby and her husband Michael of Columbus, and Rebecca Dawson and her husband Tim of Bethlehem, GA; two sons, Dan Summers and his wife Carra of Lynn Haven, FL and Rick Summers of Norcross, GA; five grandchildren, Travis Jacobs, Amanda Seawright, B.Ryan Willoughby, Carson Summers, and Morgan Summers; one great-grandson, Matthew Seawright; other relatives and friends.
