

Sue Reed Fleming, 76 of Columbus, Georgia, was born to Eternal Life on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 26, 1939 to the late Evelyn Hardy Reed and Hoke Smith Reed, Sr. in Vienna, Georgia. Sue graduated from Vienna High School in 1957, married her sweetheart Eddie Fleming in 1958 and they eventually settled down in Perry, Georgia to raise their family. Sue worked at the Bank of Perry as an Operations Officer for 38 years. Upon her retirement in 2005, Sue and Eddie moved to Columbus to be closer to their family. Sue was a devoted Christian and lived her life in service and love to her family, church, and community.
Sue leaves her legacy to her husband, Eddie Fleming; sons, Kent Fleming and his wife Donna, and Keith Fleming and his wife Sherry; five grandchildren, Capt Reed Fleming and his wife 1LT Jennifer Fleming, Kristen Fleming, Madison Fleming, Mallory Fleming, and Kinsley Fleming; brothers and sisters, Katie Marjenhoff, Hardy and Gloria Reed, Larry and Mary Alice Reed, Linda and Ronnie Jones, Freddie Reed, Fran Reed, and Mary Beth Reed-Rogers; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sue was preceded in death by her brothers Terrell Clay Reed and Hoke Smith Reed, Jr.
Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby with Reverend David Helms officiating. Family will visit with friends Thursday evening in Edgewood Hall from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Perry, Georgia at Perry Memorial Gardens Friday afternoon at 3:00 PM.
