She was born on June 29, 1955, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Eleanor Louise Rogers Fowler and Claude C. Rogers. A graduate of Tucker High School and Gwinnett Technical Institute, she launched a successful telecommunications career and traveled across the United States and abroad, adventures that inspired friends and family to pursue their own dreams. Above all, she was a devoted daughter, sister, and mother; she cherished her three beloved children. Among her favorite words was “vivacious”—a quality she both personified and brought out in others as she forged a life of uncommon energy and independence. All who knew her drew wisdom and strength from her unflagging beauty, drive, curiosity, and love.
She is survived by her son Matthew Lord, of Boston, MA; daughter Kristen Sass, of Pensacola; sisters Rose Ellen Stewart, Vicki (Royce) Hartwell, Debbie (David) Hauglie; many nieces and nephews; and her dog Sassy. She was preceded in death by her son Timothy Lord, her parents, her stepfather Donald Fowler, and her sisters Linda Bailey, Nancy Miller, Jane Talley, and Kathy Bohannon.
