A celebration of Su’s life will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA, with Reverend Patty Mayfield officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time. A private burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery.
Su was born in LaGrange, Georgia, on September 21, 1960, to the late Hollie Bruce Talley, Sr. and Margaret Pruitt Talley. She lived in Columbus for many years, and was a graduate of Columbus High School. She was a wonderful person that could light up a room when she walked in. She had a heart of gold and helped so many people in her time here. Her kindness and generosity were truly inspiring to all of us. Su loved preparing meals for her family, especially around the holidays and cooking for Lance's friends after a good day of deep-sea fishing. She enjoyed the outdoors, whether it be in her garden, bicycling with Lance, or vacationing at the beach. You could often find Su reading a good book or at her sewing machine.
Survivors include her loving husband of 34 years, Richard Lance Rucker of Lawrenceville, GA, her son, Richard Jacob Rucker and Rachel Rimmer Rucker of Atlanta, GA, a sister, Pat Chapman (Rick) of Maryland, a brother, Bruce Talley of Smith Station, AL, and a sister-in-law, Rebecca K. Rucker of Cataula, GA. Numerous nieces and nephews include Anna Chapman (Andy), Allison Chapman (Joey), Brooke Dean (Mitchell), Amanda Talley (Jonathan), Brandi Talley and Candace McCraine.
