Terri Elizabeth Thompson

Terri Elizabeth Thompson, age 68, of Lumpkin, Georgia passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021. A visitation for family and friends for Terri will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907; a graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia.

Terri was born February 1, 1953, in Columbus, GA; the daughter of Herman M. Lane and Elizabeth Sibio Lane. Terri graduated from Columbia High School, Decatur Ga. She married the love of her life Randall Thompson on August 5, 1972 at Mount Carmel Christian Church, Decatur GA. They started their family and made Cumming, GA their home.

Terri knew how to love, have compassion, and be a true friend, mother, and wife. She led by example and provided a model for a Christian woman to all who knew her. Terri lived her life to the fullest. To her this meant love for her Lord and her family above all else. She loved fishing and camping trips to the lake with her family. She also loved the beach and Panama City was a special place that she visited with her family for the last 50 years! Terri loved good music and Fleetwood Mac was an all-time favorite. Terri taught her children about hard work, how to keep a home, and especially how to feed a crowd. She was just a happy woman always laughing with her family. Terri loved to cook and holiday meals were a favorite (the bigger and more festive the better). During those camping trips Terri would love to sit around and “BS” the more outlandish or made up a story could get the more she loved to participate. Many fun hours were spent sitting around fires or over glasses of wine just talking with her family. Though the activities and trips were always fun, when family was together that’s what made it special. What she loved the most was being a Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She cherished the time she spent with her family, the hugs, the kisses, and the love that emanated from that time well spent together.

Terri is preceded in death by: her parents, Herman Lane and Elizabeth Lane.

Survivors include: her husband, Randall Thompson; her son and his family, Jason Thompson his wife Shannon and their son’s Cole and Mason; her daughters and their families, Melissa Binkley her husband Michael and their children Dylan and Elizabeth; Sarah Densmore her husband Jeremy and their son’s Hayden and Landon; Angie Keen and her husband Ryan and their son Luke; her sister, Julia Tharp and her husband Robert and their son Bobby.
