Theodore R. Johnson February 14, 1927 - October 25, 2010 COLUMBUS, GA— SFC (Ret) Theodore R. Johnson, 83, of Columbus, GA. Died Monday, October 25, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital. Graveside funeral services with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Main Post Cemetery with Reverend Vernon Prather officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Ga. 31907 The family will receive friends this evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. SFC Johnson was born in Murray County, Ga. On February 14, 1927 son of the late Ben Johnson and Mary Baynes Johnson. He has lived in Columbus since 1955 and was retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years of service having served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After his Military career he served as a Maintenance Coordinator for Columbus Mills until his retirement. SFC Johnson was a member of the Ft. Benning Masonic Lodge #579, Royal Arch #73 of Ft. Benning, Order of the Eastern Star # 278, past member of the American Legion Post 35, Life Member of the V.F. W. #665 and was a life member of the Military Order of the Cooties Pup Tent #9. SFC Johnson was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Gennive Johnson of Columbus, son, James L. Johnson (Cheryl) of Hamilton, GA. two brothers, Glen Johnson and Otis Johnson both of Murray County, GA. sister, Willen Thomason of Murray County, GA. four grandchildren, Tiffiany Elliott and husband Daron of Hamilton, GA. Brooke Johnson of Hamilton, GA. Coley Johnson of Hamilton, GA. and Kyle Johnson of Columbus, three great grandchildren, Chandler Elliott, Emma Elliott and Parker Hancock.
