

Thomas "Bill" Cummings, Sr., age 83, resident of Columbus, died on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 11 a.m.
Mr. Cummings, son of the late Leslie Michael Cummings and Pearla McCrain Cummings, was born January 5, 1929 in Abbeville, AL. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. Mr. Cummings was a retired police officer from the City of Columbus, where he dedicated more than 30 years of faithful service. After retirement, he began another career as a school bus driver for the Muscogee County School system, serving over 15 years of service.
Mr. Cummings was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Elizabeth McQuaig Cummings; a sister, Helen Elizabeth Eller and two brothers, Perry Cummings and William Earl Cummings. He is survived by one daughter, Dana Klementovich of Southport, MI; three sons, Thomas Wesley Cummings, Jr. and his wife Laura of Milledgeville, GA, Leslie Darren Cummings and his wife Jessica of Gadsden, AL, and Michael Earl Cummings and his wife Jeannie of McDonough, GA; two sisters, Alice Edwards of Phenix City, AL and Patricia Myers of Valdosta, GA; nine grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
