

Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, 1 p.m. with Reverend Mike Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Alabama. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 18, 2016 from 5-7 p.m.
Velma was born on July 26, 1936 in Bonifay, Florida to the late Clyde and Bonnie Bush. She loved all of her family and friends. Velma is survived by her husband of over 63 years, Sherman E. Hall. They married in Lucedale, Mississippi but have resided in Columbus since 1976. Velma was a supportive wife through Sherman’s 27 years U.S. Army career, all while also caring for her children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Shipman and brother, Ralph Bush.
Survivors include her sons, Kenneth Hall (Janice), John Hall (Pam), Ricky Hall (Yogi), and Tracey Hall; one daughter, Marita Foster (Ed Boswell); grandchildren, Melissa Goad, Kathy Shiver (Brandon), Daniel Hall (Nicole), Jennifer Goplen (Blake), Patrick Hall, Christina Kees (Elliott), Matthew Hall (Brenda), Coleton Foster (Sammy), Alainey Hall and Katherine Hall; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Mills (John) and Louise McAllister (Mike); brothers, Roy Bush, Rex Bush (Connie), and Clyde Bush Jr. (Laura); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Francis Hospital and the Columbus Hospice House for the outstanding care and support that was given to her and also the entire family.
