Willa Mae Hayes

Willa Mae Hayes, age 80, of Seale, Alabama passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020. A visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. A Grave Side Celebration of Willa's Life will occur Friday, October 30, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907.

Willa was born August 4, 1940 in Washington, D.C. She grew up as an only child wishing for a large family. She lived her dream. Willa loved her family and taking care of them. She lived life to the fullest. Cooking for family gatherings, playing with the babies, and baby setting. She was highly respected and everyone’s Mom. She enjoyed camping and fishing and loved to be silly and laugh. She taught all her children how to cook and be a good parent. She always told them to be their best. Willa will always be remembered as everyone’s Mom and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Willa’s husband, Sherman Lee Hayes; son, Michael Wade Martin; and her parents preceded her in death.

She is survived by daughters, Diane Rena Atchley, Catherine Michell Hayes, Rebecca Nadine Cox (Harvey), Cynthia Hayes Mains (Mark), and Donna Leigh Carr; son, Joseph Louis Martin, Jr. and son in-law Joseph Allen Adams; grandchildren, Melynda Garcia, Harvey Cox, Jr., Kristy Lara, Kari Thompson, Sherman Hayes, Nadia Horner, Cecily Burge, Christopher Adams, Brittany Hayes, Jacob Martin, Anthony Mains, Hanna Martin, Melissa Tomlinson, Kerstin Rivera-De-Santiago and Brian Peeler; 37 great-grandchildren; other family members and many friends to cherish her memory.
