

William Howard Boatner, Jr. 78, of Columbus, GA passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, June 23, 2016 under the watchful care of Columbus Hospice. William was born July 8, 1937 in Columbus to his late parents Howard and Gladys Boatner. After high school he proudly served four years in the United States Navy before being employed by Vulcan Material where he retired as a Supervisor after 39 years. He loved to hunt, fish, travel and spend time with his family.
The family will welcome guests for visitation Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 pm in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA. A Celebration of William’s Life will be Monday, June 27, 2016 at 11:00 am in The Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby, followed by a Committal Service at Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Gary Richardson officiating.
Along with his parents, Mr. Boatner is preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ruth and Jeanette, and one brother Tommy. He is survived by his wife Karen; her sons, David (Lynn) Chennault and Kevin Chennault; grandchildren, Bailey and Trey Chennault; two sisters, Joann Lubitz and Margo (Sherman) Hinson; Nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
