William Carlos Chandler, formally of Columbus, GA passed away Thursday, November 22, 2018 at age 50 in Frisco, TX. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary at 3:00 PM with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service.
Carlos was born the son of the late William Curtiss Chandler, Jr. and Jerelene Mays Coleman on August 28, 1968 in Riverside, CA. He graduated from George Washington Carver High School in Columbus, GA in 1986. Carlos enjoyed community service, and spending time fund raising. He was active with the nonprofit organization, First Book in which he spent time giving and reading books to children. Carlos also volunteered with the after school program, The Boys and Girls Club. He was an avid reader, movie collector and a real amateur magician. What he loved the most was writing poetry and expressing his innermost thoughts. Carlos also loved traveling and spending quality time with his family and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Curtiss Chandler, Jr. and Jerelene Mays Coleman; and brother, Ronald Justin Coleman, all of Columbus, GA.
Carlos leaves behind his wife, Janay Link Chandler of Frisco, TX; daughter, Theresa Clay of Smyrna, GA; son, Mason Cormier and daughter, Hailie Cormier of Frisco, TX; Grandson, Christian Clay of Smyrna, GA; sister, Diometra Chandler Aldridge (Phillip) of Lawrenceville, GA; sister, Shirmeka Chandler of Canton, OH; Nephews, Chandler Frierson of Lexington, KY, Josh Chandler of Morgantown, WVA, and Jace Coleman of Tupelo, MS; Stepfather, Ronald Coleman; Goddaughters, Brittany-Anne Berry of Douglasville, GA, Taylor Dill of Atlanta, GA; and loving aunts Jewell Lewis and Evelyn Abron of Columbus, GA. Carlos also leaves a host of other relatives and many friends to cherish his loving memory.
