
Visitation will be from 4-6pm, on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00pm, on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Parkhill Cemetery.
Mr. Gunnels was born August 25, 1926 in Phenix City, Alabama to the late Milford L. Gunnels and Erma Smith Gunnels. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for many years. He spent 40 years of his life working and retired from the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years Zoe Gunnels, two sons, Wayne Gunnels and Gregory (Sandy) Gunnels, two daughters, Tina (Wade) Schlader and Cindy Gunnels, one brother, Clarence (Bettye) Gunnels, two sisters, Nell (Noles) Esponge and Rebecca Cole, seven grandchildren, Trisha Evans, Mary Beth Collins, Christi Garrett, Hannah Gunnels, Ryan Schlader, William Schlader and Samantha Schlader, four great-grandchildren, Adrianne Evans, Ashleigh Collins, Will Evans and Karolyn Schlader.
William was a great husband, father, brother, grandfather, and just an all-around wonderful person. His love for others was so pure and he had such a gentle spirit. His youngest daughter, Cindy (special needs), always had a special place in his heart and his love for her was even more special. His unconditional love will still be felt in the hearts of the family.
