William Albert Harp, "Buddy" as he was known by most people, was born in Dothan, Alabama on December 8, 1948 to Albert and Doris Harp and was the second of four children. In his 76 years, he was a happy husband for 55 years, a loving dad for 36 years, a proficient mechanic for 58+ years, as well as being a loving son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend.
Throughout his life, cars were his passion. Whether it was working on them, driving them, building models of his favorites, watching NASCAR on TV, or just going to the track and watching Dean/Larry race, he loved anything and everything to do with cars. He did, however, have to overcome many health issues after breaking his back in 1974 and having quadruple bypass surgery in 2012, but was able to with strength, love, and tenacity. He was doing great until his health started to wane in the years leading up to his passing, ultimately having to be resuscitated twice in a short period, along with the long term effects of diabetes and a bad infection were all he could take. Knowing "Buddy", he would want people to rejoice in the memories and moments he shared with us and not be sad about losing him. Because as long as you have those things, he truly is never gone.
A Visitation for Family and Friends will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM in Fisher Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Pastor Brent Tiemann officiating.
