A prayer vigil will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, located at 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. A visitation will follow from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the same location. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 11:00 am at the same location.
Bill lived his life to give to others. He was incredibly generous with both his family and friends, operating under a simple but powerful philosophy: if he had it to give, he was going to give it. Whether it was his time, his resources, or his support, Bill never hesitated to provide for those around him.
The greatest loves of Bill’s life were his family, his friends, his dogs, and the animals that roamed his property. He found immense joy and peace in caring for all living things, finding purpose in the quiet company of nature and his loyal pets.
The most incredible lesson Bill taught those around him was the power of a giving spirit. His life was a testament to the idea that we are measured not by what we keep, but by what we share. He will be remembered forever for his profound love of family and his boundless generosity.
Bill’s devotion to his family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Maritza; his son, Bill, and his wife, Tina; and his daughter, Sheila, and her husband, Derek. He was a proud grandfather to Jonathan, Stephanie, Drew, Brittany, and Cooper, and a cherished great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren, with another on the way.
Bill will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in every act of kindness performed in his honor.
