Columbus, GA- William Roy Luttrell, 86, of Columbus, died early July 12, 2014 at his home.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 14, at 11:00 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, with Dr. Ronald King officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
Roy was born December 2, 1927 to William Roy and Willie Kelly Luttrell. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1945 and received a BS in Ornamental Horticulture from Auburn University in 1949. He and his father were partners in the stock brokerage firm, W.R. Luttrell, & Company. Later he worked for First National Bank of Columbus, now Wells Fargo, and retired as a Vice President and head of the Trust Department there.
Roy was a life-long member of First Baptist Church of Columbus, where he was an Emeritus Deacon and member of the Bob Scarborough Sunday School Class.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Luttrell was preceded in death by one sister, Rebecca Luttrell Roberds.
Roy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kate Helen Vann Luttrell of Columbus; two daughters: Emily Whiteside of Columbus and Beth Saba (Richard) of Auburn; four grandchildren: Matthew Saba, John Saba, Anna Whiteside, and Will Whiteside; two sisters in law, Grace Brannon and Mary Owens Bryan; one brother in law, Dr. James Vann; and numerous nieces and nephews.
