

William W. Morris, age 83, resident of Columbus, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Friday, October 2, 2015, 2 p.m. with Reverend Scott Tucker officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 1, 2015 from 5-7 p.m.
Mr. Morris, son of the late Buford Collie Morris and Bertha Betty Sketoe Morris, was born November 27, 1931 in Bonifay, Florida. He was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and a member of the American Teamsters Union. Mr. Morris was retired from Consolidated Freight and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korea Era Conflict. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Buford Morris, James Morris, and Charles Morris; and one sister, Ruth Kirkpatrick. Mr. Morris is survived by his wife of 63 years, Hilda Morris of Columbus; one daughter, Denise Neff and her husband Kent of Manchester, Georgia; three sisters, Gertrude Johnson of Columbus, Betty Sue Whiddon of Columbus, and Rita Dennis and her husband Henry of Salem, Alabama; one brother, Douglas Morris and his wife Jeanette of Smiths, Alabama; one granddaughter, Julia Morris of Manchester, Georgia; one grandson, Matt Leonard of Rapid City, South Dakota; great-grandson, Tommy Meeks; many other relatives and friends.
