A visitation of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Striffler-Hamby, Columbus. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 3:00 PM in Edgewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby, Columbus with Pastor Randy Comer officiating. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery.
Wilma was born on September 27, 1935 in Shaw, Mississippi; she is the daughter of George Washington Cockrell and Annie Pearl Cummings Cockrell. Wilma graduated from Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. Wilma married Clyde Roberts in Shaw, MS on May 3, 1957, and they were married for over 60 years before Clyde’s passing. Together they made the Columbus area their home for the last 20 years. She taught school for many years and then became the owner of Patti-Cake, her cake decorating supply shop, where she was to teach others those skills. Wilma was a talented seamstress, a wonderful cook and had a passion for her flower garden. What she loved most was her family and the time they spent together. She was a member of River of Life Church in Phenix City, Alabama.
Mrs. Roberts is preceded in death by; her parents, George and Annie Pearl Cockrell; her husband Clyde Edwin Roberts; one sister, Alma Murphy and two brothers-in-law, Bruce Smith and Gerald Vowell.
Survivors include, her son Chris (Gail) Roberts, her daughter, Cheryl Roberts; five grandchildren, Charles Roberts, Clarke (Amy) Roberts, Somer (Heath) Venable, John Michael Wiggs and Elizabeth Michelle (Troy New) Wright; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Sherry Smith; and 2 sisters-in-law Carla Vowell, Connie Langguth; and six nieces and nephews to cherish her loving memory.
