Zona V. McFarland

Zona was born in Cabin Creek, West Virginia April 10, 1938 to the late Elmer Pannell and Addie Hicks.

Zona Graduated Summa Cum Laude from Capitol University with a Bachelor degree in business economics. Zona worked with the Mead Company as a credit manager for twenty-eight years before retiring in 1999 with the Mead Coated Board Division.

Zona was a faithful servant of the Lord, ministering in the correctional facilities at Dooley Prison, Rutledge Prison and Macon County State Prison. Active in the church as a Sunday school teacher and leading bible study classes.

Zona was preceded in death by her brothers Curtis Pannell, Reginald Pannell and Earnest Rotan.

Zona leaves behind to cherish her memories four children Ron (Rose) Cockrell, Colette (Byron) Douglas, Kevin (Corine) Cockrell and Joń (Sharon) Cockrell.

A host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nephews, Nieces and cousins.

There are so many other people that Zona considered Sons and Daughters and they as well thought of her as MOM.

A visitation will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, located at 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907, on December 19, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

The funeral service will follow at the same location, beginning at 2:00 pm.
