

Benjamin Bly Roll, age 25, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Friday September 3, 2010, in Knoxville Tennessee. Bly was born on February 9, 1985 in Columbus and was the son of David and Sally Peters Roll and the older brother of Jessy.
Bly graduated from Columbus East High School in 2003 and graduated magna cum laude in 2007from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. At the time of his death he was in his 2nd year of law school at the University of Tennessee. In addition, Bly graduated 3rd in his class from the U.S. Marine Corps Officer Candidate School in 2005 and successfully completed the Ironman competition in Louisville in 2008. Bly loved the outdoors, marathon races, and enjoyed competing in sports of all kinds. He embraced life with a passion, loved his pets, and was a devoted friend, brother and son. Bly was committed and very close to his family and will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents and sister, Bly is survived by his grandparents, Natalie Roll and Gordon and Patricia Peters;aunts, uncles and cousins, Libby, Mark, Sarah, and Natalie Fox of MA; Rob, Alison, Gates and Max Roll of GA; Kristen, Raouf, Alison, and Thomas Bishay of Bloomington; Mary Judith, Dennis, Alexandra and Davis Mitchell of GA; Betsy, Mike, Adam, and Amy David of Franklin; Tom, Keelan, Kennedy, and Annie Peters of OH.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
Calling Hours will be held at the Myers-Reed Dignity Memorial Chapel, 3729 25th Street in Columbus on Friday, September 10th, from 4pm to 8pm. A private lakeside service will be held on Saturday, September 11th, at the home of Bly’s family.
