Billy Lee Chase

Billy Lee Chase, 77, of Columbus, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024 at The Belmont Health & Rehabilitation. He was born January 6, 1947 in Shelbyville to Lloyd G. and Clara Irene (Lewis) Chase. They preceded him in death. Billy loved writing, solving math problems, and playing cards, especially 500 Rummy and Solitaire. He also loved working and loved his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Paulette Chase, and twins, Robert Ray and Barbara Kay Chase; aunts and uncles, Mae and Wilbur, and cousins, Carolyn and Tom. Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Rita Sue Chase of Columbus; daughters, Alice (Richie) Weafer, and Gina (Eric) Lefler, all of Columbus; and grandchildren, Ricky and Makenzie Weafer of Columbus. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Myers-Reed Chapel. A private celebration of life will be held a later date.
