He was born in Kentucky March 1, 1944, the son of Isaac and Vera Boggs Mitchell. He married Loretta Lee March 6, 1965; she preceded him in death August 19. 1994.
He retired from Cummins Engine Company after over 30 years service. He was a former member of The Berean Bible Church and enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He is survived by sons, Craig Mitchell and his wife Liying Shao-Mitchell of Columbus and Bradley Mitchell of Franklin; sisters, Wanda Evans of Columbus and Pearl (Bill) Ross of Fishers, Indiana; brother, Hiram “Tug” Mitchell of Letcher County, Kentucky; grandchildren, Chelsea (Richie) Gonzales of Raleigh, NC and Katelyn Mitchell of Ft, Wayne, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 7 brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street with Rev. Jerry K. Day, Sr. officiating. Visitation from 11:00 a.m. to service Tuesday. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-reed.com.
