

Brett was born June 30, 1955 in Columbus to William Neal Smith P.M. and Norma Joann Smith. He joined the Hartsville Masonic Lodge in 1976, was a three time Past Master, and an active member until his death. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Widow Sons M.C., Wayfarers, and Solomon’s Guard.
He worked as a licensed electrician for several years and was employed at Forester and Lovelace Electric until he became disabled. He then enrolled in vocational rehabilitation where he studied photography. He became an avid photographer and began working part-time at Ivy Tech Community College in the photography department.
Brett was extremely disciplined and ambitious. He was passionate about several things throughout his life, but most of all, his entire world revolved around his granddaughter, Amelia.
He is survived by his son, Mitchell Smith; Daughter-in-law, Tysha Smith; Granddaughter Amelia Lynn Smith, and many more family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Neal Smith P.M.; mother, Norma Joann Smith; and sister, Melinda Sharp.
A Masonic Service will be held Saturday, May 14 at 1 p.m. at Hathaway-Myers Chapel, 1022 Pearl Street, Columbus, Indiana 47201. Friends may gather for visitation on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
