Carol T. Berkey, 85, of Columbus, died at noon Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Carol had been a journalist over her lifetime and was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church where she had served as an Elder. She also had participated in the Columbus Area Arts Guild, and she enjoyed craft projects and being a seamstress and a homemaker.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Scott Hill officiating. In keeping with Carol’s wishes, cremation is planned with inurnment in the columbarium at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to United Way of Bartholomew County or the Wounded Warrior Project.

Born in Paoli Aug. 3, 1928, Carol was the daughter of Bert and Pauline Heard Trotter. She married David B. Berkey Oct. 20, 1950, in Paoli. He preceded her in death Jan. 20, 2006.
She is survived by daughters, Kristin (Greg) Adkins, Columbus and Nina (Richard) Seven, Seattle, Wash.; son, Todd (Vicky) Berkey, Los Angeles, Calif.; grandchildren, Ben Adkins of Columbus, Kim (Chris) Compton of Indianapolis, Mark Adkins of Columbus, and Derek and Nicole Seven of Seattle, Wash.; and great-grandson, Caleb Gorbett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Janice Turner.
