Eileen Rosa Steigerwalt

She was born May 23, 1931, in Alcalde, New Mexico, and was raised in Espanola, New Mexico. Eileen spent most of her adult life in Columbus, Indiana.

She attended McCurdy United Brethren Mission School in Espanola for 12 years. Eileen moved to Indiana in 1950 and attended Indiana Central University, earning her undergraduate degree and a Master’s Degree from IUPUI in Elementary Education. Her career as an educator spanned over 18 years. Eileen was a member of 1st Lutheran Church.

In 1954, Eileen married Harold Steigerwalt, and together they raised four children.

Eileen leaves behind her loving husband of 62 years, Harold Steigerwalt; four children, Charles (Diane) Steigerwalt of Columbus, David Steigerwalt of Orlando, Florida, Nancy (Edwin) Corbin of Danville, California, and Robert (Lori) Steigerwalt of Columbus; five grandchildren, Michael Steigerwalt, Kayleigh Steigerwalt, Lauren Steigerwalt, Matthew Corbin and Meaghan Corbin; and a sister, Martha Boyle of Aztec, New Mexico.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Maddie Cox; her brother, Eugene Cox; and her brother‐in‐laws, Harold Boyle and Earl Hummel.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016, and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at Myers‐Reed Chapel on 25th Street. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Larry Isbell officiating. Interment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials for Eileen may be sent to First Lutheran Church Foundation.
