Elmer Wayne Smith

Mr. Smith retired in 1999 after 30 years with Cummins Fuel Injection Systems. After retirement, he worked for Wal-Mart, was a range officer at Camp Atterbury and a school crossing guard and also worked security at Arvin.

He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed all types of guns.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 Friday p.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street, with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Calling will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time Friday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Born in Columbus Oct. 5, 1950, Mr. Smith was the son of Elmer A. and Myrtle B. Anderson Smith. He married Joyce A. Whittington February 12, 1972, in Columbus.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Cindy Smith of Indianapolis; a son, Christopher Smith of Columbus; and a sister, Deletta M. (Duane) Briles of Columbus; sister-in-law, Janet Thayer of Hope.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Myletta Frazier.
