Mr. Nielsen was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and the Anchor Lodge #980, AF&AM. He was also a huge Notre Dame football fan. Eric was also a former Cub Scout Troop Leader and loved spending time at the beaches in Florida. But above all he loved his family. He never missed his sons’ football games and was determined that they receive a college education.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Virginia E. Nielsen; father and mother-in-law, Glen L. and Jean Kinney; and a sister-in-law, Beth Kinney.
Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Brenda J. Nielsen; sons, Andy Nielsen and fiancé, Kami Spicklemire of Washington, D.C., and Michael Nielsen and his long-time girlfriend, Denisa Brooks of Bloomington; brother, John A. (Christine) Nielsen of San Diego, CA; and sister, Kris (Greg) Renner of Columbus. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl St., with Rev. Clement T. Davis officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 – 12 Saturday, also at the funeral home.
