Everett Lee “JR” Rathsman, 79, of Columbus died 5PM Friday, May 25, 2018, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. Rathsman was born in Columbus September 10, 1938, the son of Everett L. Rathsman, Sr. and Okal Steenbarger Rathsman. He married Marilyn Nikirk March 11, 1969 in Bedford. He formerly worked for Cummins, Arvin and Ventura, retiring from Martin Rea as a Quality Control Inspector.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church. He was a man of many interests; helping his Dad with his photography business, collecting coins and in his younger years hunting.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn K. Rathsman of Columbus; daughter, Tanya (Phillip) Pongracz of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Abigail and Adam Pongracz of Indianapolis; sister, Cara Jeffries of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry Isbell officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street and from 10:00 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery with military rites by the Bartholomew County Veteran’s Honor Guard. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-reed.com.
