Gary L. Wood

Gary was born March 28, 1936 in Lake City, Iowa to the late Archie D. and Genevive M. (Scroggins) Wood.

Gary was a 53 year member of the Columbus Moose Lodge 398, where he held his Fellowship Degree. Gary was also a member of East Columbus Christian Church. He was a former member of the Lions Club and Jaycees. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed NASCAR racing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dorothy Wood; and brothers, Delbert and Lavern Wood.

Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley M. Wood; children, Mark (Sandy) Wood of Pompano Beach, FL, Scott (Dena) Wood of Hope, David (Sonnie) Wood of Columbus, Christy (Jay) Westmoreland of Scottsburg, Greg (Robin) Wood of Elizabethtown, Sandy (Terry) Axsom of Columbus, Vickie Cline of Nicaragua, and Pam (Rob) Boles of North Vernon; sister, Judy Johnson of Ankney, IA; and brother, Phil Wood of Glasgow, KY. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Myers-Reed Chapel with Rev. Ron Bridgewater officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 – 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter or to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
