He was born in Lonoke, Arkansas on May 22, 1934, the son of Owen James
and Mary Moss Dooley. He married Lucille Swango on April 23, 1955 in
Columbus. She survives.
He had worked as a press operator at Arvin for 44 years. Jim served as
the Union Steward, was a member of the NRA, and enjoyed woodworking,
fishing and time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Nicki (Bill) Owens, Dorothy
(John) Shafer and Karen (Jeff) Buckner, all of Columbus; brothers, Bud
(Kathy) Dooley of Omaha, Neb., and Sam (Tricia) Dooley; a sister, Ann
Johnson of Columbus; 10 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Ronald Lee Dooley.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Myers-Reed Chapel on
25th Street. The Rev. Stanton Loutner will officiate.
Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from noon until service
time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
