Jeannette Nolan Westlake, 97, died January 29, 2018 at her daughter’s home near Augusta, Georgia after an extended illness. Jeannette will be transported to Columbus, Indiana where she enjoyed many fulfilling and happy years of her life. Visitation will be held this Friday, February 2, from 4:00-8:00 PM at Hathaway Myers Funeral Home, 1022 Pearl Street, Columbus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 3, at 10:00 AM at St Bartholomew Catholic Church, 1306 27th Street, with Rev. Clement T. Davis as celebrant. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery, Columbus, Indiana. Jeannette was born on July 2, 1920 in Cohoes, New York, to Leo and Wilhelmina Mossey. She was the third of five children. In high school she developed a passion for singing and administration. Upon graduation from Albany Business College, Jeannette pursued a brief career as an administrative assistant and a professional opera singer in New York and Indianapolis. On September 11, 1944 Jeannette married John J. Nolan, Master Sergeant in the Army Air Corps. They were married for 46 years until John’s passing in 1990. Together they raised 4 children, Dianne Nolan Dickson of Mandeville, LA, Janice Nolan Blanchard of Shelbyville, IN, John Nolan of Eden Prairie, MN and Mary Elizabeth Nolan Hyer of Grovetown, GA. Jeannette moved with husband John to Indiana in 1956 and was heavily involved in the local community and St Bartholomew Catholic Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed volunteering, gardening, and spending time with her 22 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Following her marriage to John, she was married for 18 years to Robert Douglas Westlake from 1994 to 2012. Her family paid this tribute to her, ‘Jeannette (Mom-Mom) was one of the kindest, most loving people you could ever meet, she opened her heart and her home to many over the years and she will be sorely missed.’ She is survived by her 2 daughters, Dianne Dickson & Mary Liz Hyer, son John Nolan, sisters Leona Linen, Lorraine Keis, and brother Ret. Chaplain Colonel Robert E. Mossey. She was preceded in death by her sister Wilhelmina Amyot and her daughter, Janice Nolan Blanchard.
