Karen Anne Rider

Karen was born Feb. 6, 1940 in Greenfield, Indiana, the daughter of George Perry Miller, Sr. and Marguerite Terrell Miller. She married Harold Robert “Bob” Rider June 29, 1958; he preceded her in death August 4, 2015.

She was a former Board member of East Side Community Center. She never knew a stranger and was always out to help the underdog.

She is survived by daughters, Jo (Jim) Kaler of Columbus and Anna (Greg) Barwick of North Vernon; son, Charlie Rider of Columbus; siblings, Larry (Betty) Miller of Rushville, Harlan (Sally) Miller of Siler, KY, Janice (Marty) Nunn of Niangue, MO; grandchildren, Scott (Amy) Kaler of Trafalgar, Caleb Kaler of Columbus, Dylan (Stephanie) Barwick of Fayetteville, NC, Nikki (Robert) Day of Columbus, Zachary Barwick of North Vernon, Chase Rider of Columbus; great grandchildren, Jack Baker, Brantlee Kaler of Trafalgar, Gavan Kaler of Trafalgar, Amelia Kaler, Nora and Madison Kaler of Trafalgar, Krissalyn Greeno of Russiaville, Rosie Barwick of Tacoma, WA, Kamryn Wilson and Theodore Barwick of Fayetteville, NC.

She was preceded in death by parents; husband; siblings, Barbara Hagan, Susie Miller, Kay Voss, George Miller, Jr., Sterling, Marvin, Hubert, Tom Miller, Mike, Doyle and Bobby Miller; daughter-in-law, Ava Rider.

Private visitation will be held at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street followed by a private service. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery with Pastor Michael Snider officiating. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-reed.com.
