Larry D. Lee

Mr. Lee worked 20 years for The Republic and the Franklin Daily Journal and was sports editor at The Republic during the 1963-64 basketball hey-days.

He was the administrator for Community Church Christian School for 10 years, was a former insurance agent and after retirement worked part time in the hardware department at Sears.

He and his wife were in the co-teaching ministry of Heartland Prayer Network and he was also active in counseling with Eagles’ Wings International Ministry. He was active in amateur sports and enjoyed fishing.

He was a member of the former Community Church

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with the Rev. Robert E. Lay and the Rev. Douglas G. Lee officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Born in Franklin Sept. 11, 1935, Mr. Lee was the son of William A. and Dorothy Clark Lee. He married Linda Lay August 16, 1973, in Columbus.

Survivors include his wife; children, Thomas D. Lee of Avon, Rick W. Lee of Plainfield, Deanna Lee (Mike) Fitzpatrick of Anaheim, CA, and Douglas G. (Shannon) Lee of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Erin and Erickson Lee, Sarah Fitzpatrick, Andrea Jessup and Mike and Shelly Lee; and a stepbrother, Robert Lee of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Lee.
