Lillian Dell Imel, nee Jordan, 90 of Jacksonville, FL, passed away Friday, August 7, 2020 at Lanier Rehabilitation Center. She was born October 14, 1929 in Vernon and was a long-time resident of Columbus after moving when she was young. When she was old enough, she began working at Saps Bakery where she was employed for many years until her retirement. Lillian loved to travel with her family. She loved the beach and shortly after moving to Florida, her return trip to Disney World, which she hadn’t visited in 45 years. She also enjoyed going to the Deaf Club in Indianapolis. She and her late husband, John, enjoyed gatherings with the deaf community. Lillian was also a member of Garden City Church of Christ. But above all, she loved her sons and grandchildren deeply and would do anything for them. In 1968 Lillian married John W. Imel. He preceded her in death. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Ethel Jordan, nee Speer; her sons, whose loss devastated her, David W. Jordan and Robert D. Jordan; sisters, Glenna Jean Kerr, Agnes Jordan, and Verna Belle; and brothers, Melvin, Alva and Glenn. Surviving are her loving son, Kenneth (Lori) Imel of Jacksonville, FL; daughters-in-law, Kathy Jordan and Margaret Jordan; brothers, Norman (Linda) Jordan of Columbus and William (Wilma) Jordan of Columbus; grandchildren, Clinton Jordan of Greenwood, Dillon Jordan of Columbus, Matthew (Amanda) Imel of Columbus, and Katie (Dustin) Simmons of Jacksonville, FL. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Laini Smith and Liam Simmons, both of Jacksonville, FL, Payton Jordan of Columbus, and Morgan and Autumn Imel, both of Columbus. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 pm Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Myers-Reed Chapel. In keeping with CDC and Indiana guidelines, social distancing must be followed and masks are suggested. You may also be asked to wait outside due to the social distanced capacity of the funeral home. Funeral service and burial will be private at Daugherty Cemetery.
