She was born April 10, 1931 in Michigan, the daughter of Minor and Virgie Beesley. On August 14, 1948, she married Willie Edison Leonard.
Mrs. Leonard was a very hard working and loving mother who would help anyone that needed help. She loved fishing and working in her garden. She also loved to cook and she was the best cook ever.
Mrs. Leonard worked at Stadlers and also cleaned houses. She also worked at a nursing home and enjoyed flea markets. She was also a member of Hope Community Church of God.
She was a mother to many children, 11 of her own to be exact. But, she has many that called her “mom” and “ma.”
She is survived by her loving children, Randall (Yvonne) Leonard and Gary (Jane) Leonard both of Scipio, Larry Leonard of Clifford, Willie (Elizabeth) Leonard of Taylorsville, Terry (Sue) Leonard, Harvey (Robin) Leonard, Kendall (Lisa) Leonard, Teresa (Terry Warren) Leonard, all of Columbus, and Anita Leonard of Clifford; and sisters, Joyce (George) Nentrup, Phillis Moschino and Rose McDonald. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and 40 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Minor and Virgie Beesley; her husband, Willie Leonard; two sons, Roger and Gregory Leonard; brothers, Kenneth, Frank and Earl Beesley; sisters, Jean Mize, Janice Franks and Beatrice Griffin; as well as two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2018 at Myers-Reed Chapel with Rev. Gerald Hancock officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 – 8 Thursday and 10 – 11 Friday at the funeral home.
